Nant Ffrancon
Despite it being my day off, today I was up at 8 to get breakfast and (after a luxuriously slow coffee) off with some of the school groups to do a day's glaciation fieldwork, covering both upland a lowland features.
We started at Cwm Idwal, which is a huge corrie and the Nant Ffrancon, pictured - a very classic U-shaped valley. Saw lots of features, and was good to get a glimpse at some teaching techniques.
It started gloriously sunny, but soon turned to torrential rain, and stayed that way for the rest of the day. Still, remained an interesting day, and got to see lots more of my local area!
I'd hoped to climb some of these hills, but the weather tomorrow doesn't look on form for an improvement, so may have to settle for coffee and reading.
