WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Rhubarb - Free to a good home.

I put the rhubarb in front of the house and put a notice on Hellifield FB page. A lady was very pleased to take it off our hands.
I had to do the shopping today while Frank sat in the car in Morrison’s car park. I also nipped to B&M and bought the Magnolia Stellata I’d seen the other day. JeanneB had kindly pointed out that this particular one stays quite small and right enough - it says on the label 150cm high. Perfect!
Frank finished the raised bed in the garden, so tomorrow I can do some more tidying and planting.
I took Bella round the block and stopped to chat to Eunice who was in her garden and she dug up a few Spring plants that had spread and gave them to me, one is Mayflowers but she couldn’t remember what the others are so it will be a surprise!

To The Wild Woods

Next time you go to the wild woods,
have all your senses about you,
don’t merely walk for walking’s sake,
counting your steps as you go.
Study the trees, what are those leaves?
which bird made that call? Did you hear?
See the black beetle among the dead leaves,
creepy crawlies are nothing to fear.
That tiny flower, the blue one there,
if I’m not mistaken it’s Speedwell,
the Celandine has come out too and
before too long there’ll be Bluebells.
Breathe in the woody, scent of the earth,
pick pungent Wild Garlic for the kitchen,
there’s life on that rotting log over there,
all covered in Moss and Lichen
Run your hand along the ferns
feel the softness on your palm,
the greenness that surrounds you,
will wrap you in instant calm.
