Pulling together

Frankie the dog (visiting) would like me to throw a ball for her, but today is about following up with all the amazing organisations we will work with to support Ukrainian refugees. British law requires us to do stringent checks on them to ensure they are legal, registered organisations, that they have accounts and trustees and no links to terrorist organisations, and that they have a whole host of policies in place. Luckily Romania is a highly bureaucratic country so they don’t seem fazed by this. We need to strike a balance between making sure money donated by members of the British public to appeals aid is used properly, and the urgent need for immediate actions. Big aid organisations will be spending tens of millions and the big UN agencies will spend hundreds of millions and sadly there will always be those who set up fake organisations or scams.
