Blessed By Blue And Yellow
Blue sky.
Yellow sun.
The day, here,
has begun.
It’s likely
nothing much will happen.
No missiles. No bombs.
No tanks. No homes
reduced to rubble.
Trouble lives elsewhere.
I check the online news:
In Ethiopia
‘Rebels agree truce
for aid deliveries.’
In Ukraine
‘Civilians abducted
as Russia steps up
intimidation.’
North Korea
‘claims successful test
of monster missile.’
In Australia
‘Mass bleaching event
hits Great Barrier Reef.’
At home we decide
to rearrange one of the rooms
and I wonder whether
to go to the bother
of collecting a prescription today.
In the USA
‘an officer appears to kneel
on girl’s neck.’
She’s 12 years old.
