Blue Skies

It felt like an unconscionably long wait for the party to start yesterday, but it did eventually and I got my party bag when it finished at 7pm. The party fare was pretty miserable - a cup of tea and two custard cream biscuits after starving for 22 hours is not the way to entertain a guest, but obviously better than nothing. The party bag was a packet of strong paracetamol. Such is life.

Today, I and Glasgow daughter, who came through yesterday to spend the night, went for a walk down memory lane. We visited all her old haunts round Marchmont and the Grange, including her schools and the old family castle. We even walked through Grange Cemetery and looked at the demolition site of the Sick Kids hospital. She was the only one of the family who ever entered it’s portals.

My blip of a headstone in the cemetery with the palm tree and the blue sky above might have been for someone in Egypt. It will look entirely different next week if, as the forecast predicts, it will be snowing in Edinburgh.
