Baby Shower!

Tonight was a baby shower for our lovely neighbours Amy & Andy. It's a new concept to us (and them), but worked out really well.

The girls gathered for what the South Africans call a 'stork party', to have fun and give gifts, but also to share womanly advice about the next few months.

The boys, meanwhile, gathered in the pub round the corner for curry and what the British call 'wetting the baby's head', to decide the more important issues of name, profession, and position in the football team.

A very sensible arrangement, rounded off by both sides covering a lovely lantern in hopeful messages and sending it up, narrowly missing the tree, floating into the showery April sky.
