Narrow escape
A sunny, warm Saturday, quite a lot of it spent in the 'yard. A trellis and quite a large climbing rose were ripped from the wall by storm Arwen before Christmas. Today MrM fixed the trellis back in to place, after which I sorted out the rose. It had obviously enjoyed its short spell of freedom, and attacked fiercely with its thorns at every attempt to tame it back on to the trellis. Job done, and I remain largely unscathed! Tied back the winter jasmine and kerria too, both of which had been thrown in to wild disarray by the wind.
A late afternoon walk with MrM, round the side of Humbleton Hill, on to St Cuthbert's Way and over to Coldberry Hill before going down through the Common. Near Humbleton Hill MrM narrowly avoided stepping on this little guy, probably on its way to join the amphibian love fest taking place on the nearby pond. We could see and hear the activity from the track!
