In spite of the slight haze the view from the coastal path near the Eyemouth was impressive looking across the cliffs towards St Abb’s Head with its lighthouse in the distance.  The wind was light, the sea was calm and the sun shone.  It was hard to realise that it is only March and next week it will change with rough grey seas but meanwhile we have been able to enjoy a taste of summer.
The photo was taken from Barefoot hill which is so called because one night in 1577 sea birds woke up the Scots alerting them to attackers from England.  As they had no time to put on their boots they fought in bare feet.  Being only 5 miles from England the area was very vulnerable when the two countries were at war.
