At the Terminus Hotel, Pyrmont

We headed down to Pyrmont, a former industrial area, by light rail from Central Station and called in to the Terminus Hotel for the one. I took this photo through the window of the pub across the road. Pity about the pole but it was good enough for Edward Hopper in his painting Soir Bleu, here if you'd like to take a look.

Built in 1863, the Terminus had a few iterations until it closed in 1983 due to lack of patronage as residents moved away with the folding of local industries. In 2019 it reopened after new owners did a beautiful sympathetic renovation, preserving many of the original features. See tile work in extras.

Have a great rest of your Sunday and start to the new week.
