Bee & Blossom

A cooler day, but still lovely and sunny this afternoon. I started a sort out in the garage this afternoon, a full sort out is going to take a long time! The tree blossom was attracting these tiny bees, always lovely to see the pretty blossom.

I'm pleased that Will Smith won the best actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard. I was unhappy with his completely inappropriate behaviour in smacking Chris Rock, and I'm completely fed up with comedians like Chris Rock making inappropriate personal comments under the guise of being 'just a joke'. We had it with Rebel Wilson at the BAFTA's too and the BBC had to apologise.

Day 742 / Day 33 of no Legal Covid Requirements in England (for my record only)
With free LFTs being removed from 1st Apr in England except for the over 75s and over 12's with a weakened immune system, the Govt will not set out full info until Friday. So NHS staff won't know if they have to pay for tests, the NHS Confederation said it might cost them c£50 a month. On average 23,127 staff at hospital trusts in England were absent on any day last week due to the virus or self isolation. 200,000 kids are off school due to Covid, with school leaders saying it could get worse when families have to pay for tests (lets face it, with the huge rise it the cost of living, they're generally not going to pay). Another 600,000 will be invited for a second booster this week in England. Bizarrely less than half of severely immunocompromised people have had their booster after their 3rd primary jab (I suspect more admin problems account for a lot of this). China has reported its highest number of Covid cases since the start of the pandemic. Shangai public transport is to be suspended during two lockdown and testing phases, first on one half of the city, then on the other due to China's 'zero-Covid' policy. There are calls for patients in hospital with Covid to also be tested for flu as they require different treatments and having both at the same time doubles the risk of dying.
