My new-ish specs broke on Sunday - the winter jasmine I was pruning fought back. I took them to the opticians this morning - new frames required. The supplier was contacted and they’re still in stock, but will take 2-3 weeks to arrive as they have to travel from the Netherlands. The good news is that I am two days short of the one year guarantee period, so it will cost me nothing.

Later, a chap from the garage rang. After receiving an email saying I needed a cam belt replacement for the car I had booked it in online. I am due at the garage early tomorrow morning. Except it now seems that my model can wait until it is 15 years old or has been driven 300,000 miles. So my visit is cancelled.

I have saved a lot of money today by doing very little.
