Around the Gardens

We took advantage of the warm weather and worked outside. Hubby spread weed and feed, I started on the front garden, then we both moved to the formal garden to attack the liriope. If only I had known the variegated variety does not spread as much as the green ones…. What a task we have facing us. The liriope has spread amongst my creeping phlox and it is almost impossible to get it out without pulling up phlox as well. We decided to dig out as much as we can in our center bed which is approx. 15 feet in diameter. Should have tackled this task 10 years ago. I took photos of a few items around the property. Our weeping cherry is in full bloom. Would have been a better photo with a sunny sky. The double daffodils are also open now. I saw this tiny blue butterfly on the Heather. These dainty Beth Evans corydalis add a splash of color in a few beds. We got approval to replace our roof shingles so today we picked out the color. Turns out the wind caused more damage than the hail when we had that bad storm. We were tired after lunch and stopped for the day. Guess I also won an artists’ set at the auction. My neighbor who works at the school will deliver it tomorrow. There are nasty storms predicted but they haven’t arrived yet. Leftovers for dinner so it will be an easy night. We both signed up for the second COVID booster. Sure hope it is effective against that new strain but who do you trust? The news from Ukraine brings such anger - constant lies about the pull back coming from Russia. If only humans could be more like flowers, causing smiles rather than tears. Our property and neighborhood is certainly our happy place with all the colorful flowers and trees. Thanks so much for your stars, hearts and comments lately. Be safe. “Learn to spread joy and happiness like Spring Blossoms.” ― Purvi Raniga
