Preparing for the Grand Opening
I went into Oswestry this morning to do my food shopping. I got this photo at the Cambrian Heritage Railways in the town. This weekend is the Grand Opening of the line from Oswestry Station to Weston Wharf, the first passenger service in 50 years and the trains will be running through to Sunday.
My blip is of the steam engine "Henry Ellison" being prepared for the trip. The engine behind is a diesel/electric shunter built in 1963 and named Alun Evans after a 24 year old volunteer who sadly died.
It's a great day for the railway after so much work done by volunteers over many years (including F who volunteered for years although doesn't now).
