Tarts

The plan this morning was to go to Greenwich to see the Ansel Adams exhibition, as pointed-out to me by Eptas. But, today, Greenwich was cut-off from mainland London, as the Docklands Light Railway was closed for the day, for that perfect euphemism "planned engineering work."

So, instead, a visit to the Tower of London, which I last visited in the early 1960s. Some bizarre additions which, I understand, mark the former Royal Menagerie, a sort of privileged zoo. It is said that King Henry III's polar bear was tied to a long rope so it could go fishing in the Thames. Beat that all you blipping dog walkers.

I also liked the maces (with self-portrait) and the rapt concentration of the crowd.

Then, a journey home. Waiting for the Tube, we were informed that "apart from the planned engineering work, there (was) otherwise a good service running on all routes, Thank you."

Then, back in Manchester, we had to get two trams back home due to, you guessed it "planned engineering work."
