Compost heap works

I've been conquering my drill phobia recently as I'm desperately trying to finish jobs before the growing season gets going proper!

I had a few offcuts from a pallet and timber I used in the greenhouse, which I've used to improve the compost heap - this will stop the compost from falling onto the path. There's still one plank to do but it's looking great already.

I've also drilled screws into the wooden batons that join up the trellises of my bean tunnel. This makes the tunnel roof a lot sturdier than the nails I'd initially hammered in.

I love that this plot always gives me a chance to try things out, to be creative and to learn new skills. If something doesn't work, it's never frustrating - I just ask around or try something else. For me that's the real beauty of allotments...
