Chilled

We had a relaxing day today after a good night’s sleep (no doubt all the fresh sea air and exercise we’ve been getting!). We started with some breakfast whilst we read, chatted and generally sorted ourselves out for the day. It seemed a bit cloudier but rain wasn’t forecast and we kept changing our minds what to do but eventually settled on driving to Blakeney and pootling around the village looking at all the pebble fronted cottages, considering who lives here (probably all holiday cottages we suspect) and how much they all are (about £400k for a small two bed cottage we later found out, and more than a million for the bigger places). We bought a crab sandwich and sat out by the strangely fortified duck pond to eat them, then walked along the path to the sea for a while but gave that up when we realised just how far away it is from the village. Huge stretches of marshland with muddy streams and abandoned boats…odd scenery. Heston found something disgusting in the marsh and we had the devil’s own job to get him to stop eating it…yuk! Windy but warm, and as we walked the sun started to break through a bit. We ended up sitting by the quay for ages since T bought a crabbing line and bait etc and tried to catch crabs. Took a long time to get the first (just visible at the bottom of the bucket here) and lots of coordinated net and line work which was hilarious, but he ended up with 5! How many years has he enjoyed doing that….pretty much all his life I think!
Saw some lovely paintings by an artist called Matthew Taylor in one of the galleries…very tempting, but were they too similar to all the others I have? Probably….I seem to be a creature of habit (same with clothes too!).
Had a wander round Cley on our way home, again looking at all the little cottages, but also the windmill and reed beds. Again thought of following the path to the sea but found that we were still too far from it so gave up and came home to eat some delicious pastries (extra…the best ever Eccles cake), drink tea and do some quizzes (we had no idea of Joe Biden’s middle name)!
We chilled for a while then out to dinner at The Pigs, and we had a suitably porcine sharing starter (extra) which was delicious. We could only manage a relatively quick game of scrabble when we got home before bed.
