bursting
Every day I check the horse chestnut tree for leaves..and today the sticky buds began to burst open. Once they've started, it won't be long before the whole tree is covered in green. There's a thrush that sings every morning and evening from the very top of it :-)
Thank you all for sending good wishes for Sarah, stuck in the middle of nowhere with no working windscreen wipers as darkness fell. She got into the sleeping bag she had with her, and luckily had taken a power bank so didn't run out of phone battery. After 4 hours, help arrived... a very nice man in a breakdown truck who said he would take Sarah and the car back to Dumfries for £250! He said that the RAC had told him it was a "body problem" needing a tow, so he hadn't brought any tools...I am not a complaining kind of person but I have just written a long email to the RAC about this.
Fortunately I have a very resilient daughter. Sarah refused the tow and drove home herself, as by that time the rain was going off. She arrived home close to midnight, unscathed by the experience, and is now at a Killing Joke concert with D in Glasgow (D got to use his bus pass at last!).
I have booked the car into the garage on Saturday when the chance of rain looks very slim indeed.
