The Vikings are Back

This is the front of a replica Viking longship being towed through Sheringham this morning, on its way to Beeston Common, then to be burnt on a beach this evening as part of the annual Viking Festival. The name Sheringham is thought to have evolved from the Old Norse ‘The home of Scira’s people’, Scira being a Viking warlord. One of the more unusual ‘vehicles’ I’ve seen on the road. So nice to watch the Grand National this afternoon with the crowds back, and what a story with the winner.
