Tartan Yoga

Another full day and we have still to go out for dinner.  Visit this morning to Macys and their flower show which ends tomorrow.  Exuberant and colourful and that's before you look at the exterior of the building - see second extra.

Then the Tartan Day parade down 6th Avenue. The Grand Marshal this year was Karen Gillan (Amy Pond from Dr Who) who was clearly enjoying herself - first extra.

It was an eclectic display of anything remotely Scottish  - or even Celtic.  From outlandish to outlander.  But all great fun.  More tartan on display than the Royal Mile tourist shops on steroids.  More bagpipes than several Tattoos combined.  Large pipe bands to small clan groups and various organisations promoting Scotland.

Animals featured too from West Highland Terriers to a very unusual Nessie.

The blip is of the Kilted Yoga Men who were on display and having great fun with the crowd.  We even caught one of several packets of Mackie's Haggis crips thrown into the crowd which stretched all the way down 6th Avenue with hundreds of Saltires on display.

Late afternoon we did a tour of north Manhattan past Central Park, round Harlem and then along the the Museum Mile.  Good to get our bearings for the next few days.  We got back to the hotel just before the rain came on a cold breeze.
