Sue and I spent a whole long afternoon gazing into the skies, watching and listening to sandhill cranes, enjoying the light and the quiet. Almost no other people were out there.
It's my grandmother's 122nd birthday. What a dear, loving being she was, utterly without guile, blaming no one, offering herself humbly to the simple beauties of the day. I am so lucky to have known her love.
