The Bums Rush
Ok not sure what you call them round your way Rushes, Reeds, Grasses or Sedges round our way commonly called Rushes this spot is just out from the one of the car park and already the peace & quiet hits you. The water run is called Witton Brook and used to have all kinds of nice chemicals c/o Wade brook running from ICI Lostock works
This are is part of the Northwich Community Woodlands (also part of the Mersey Forest scheme) tucked up between Carey Park (fancy title for the old council tip thats been landscaped but its doing well) and Neumanns & Ahstons Flash site of a massive brine subsidance. There are plenty of flashes around our area but these 2 are the largest following subsidance in the late 1800's
Both flashes in the 1950's were built up and filled in with lime waste from the local ICI works which left an unstable alkaline paste and these lay derelict for years. Now they have good trails around the flashes for walkers, joggers, cyclist and bird hides dotted around for some of the unusual birds (apperently) will try catch some shots through the year
