Lost photos

I took photos yesterday at the beach on my proper camera, and just a few on my phone. But when taking the camera photos from my SD card, I had a phone call and during that call I seem to have accidentally deleted the photos from the card!

I haven’t overwritten the pictures on the card, but my ‘recovery’ program, RECUVA, has failed me for the first time. Does anyone have any suggestions for a better photos-on-SD card recovery system?
