Excitement
The day started off bright and sunny. What was cool turned cold as a biting wind chilled the air. Still our daughter and I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge (see one extra for a classic view) and then did a section of the High Line walk. the otters went to the National Museum of Jewish Heritage for a visit and lecture.
At night we took an open top bus tour to see the city by night. Even though we were more wrapped up it was very chilly. Nevertheless, despite the bus being on the move and stopping only at lights, I was able to capture some of the skyline from the Manhattan Bridge while moving (main blip) and of the Empire State (see other extra).
On our way back to our hotel we crossed am almost deserted Times Square (see final extra). Earlier in the evening in our hotel room we had heard what sounded like a huge rumble of masonry falling. We even looked out some of the windows to see if we could see anything. Turns out there had been a manhole explosion caused by some electricity cable malfunction. No one hurt but the square had been cordon off for safety checks. A rare occasion when it is not bustling.
