Life through the lens...

Yesterdays blip today!
I'm glad I waited as they had opened out in the sun today, and looked much better than yesterday.
You can even see my shadow in this shot!

What a beautiful day. Got up to 20c ! Still a wind, but a warm one, which I don't mind.

All OK at the hospital.
The biopsies I had taken were all sun damage. Nothing serious at the moment, but could turn into something more serious if not treated.
It is called Actinic Keratoses.
I have been given some cream to put on twice a day ( Efudix cream) for three weeks.
It will look and feel worse before it gets better, but it was explained to me very thoroughly.
The cream works by selectively destroying the abnormal cells that make up the actinic keratosis lesions on your skin. It does this without affecting normal healthy skin.
One is on my forehead which is covered by my fringe, and the other two on my leg, which will be covered by trousers, or long skirt. So shouldn't be too noticeable.
In 5 weeks it should have healed completely.

In future I must use factor 50 whenever I go out in the sun. On any skin that is showing, including hands, neck, face. Especially when going on a walk!
Also wear a hat with a brim. MrC was told to use factor 50 also!

I don't sit out in the sun these days, but used to in the 60s and 70s, which is when the damage was done. Sun lotion then was to help you get a tan, not prevent sun burn. Little did we know!
I'm so glad that these days people are more aware of the damage sun can do, even if it is not a really hot day. Also the sun creams are much stronger to prevent sun burn.

So just be careful!
