Blossoms
Last night we went to see To Kill A Mockingbird at a theatre in London. When we got Covid last week I thought we would not be able to go, but thankfully with us both testing negative for 2 days we felt comfortable about going. The theatre was packed, no one was wearing a mask (tbf they are not required to) and with no ventilation in there it felt a bit stuffy - I felt it was a good time to go after having just recovered from Covid when hopefully my immunity would be high! I am not so sure I would feel comfortable going to the theatre in 6 months time in those conditions.
The play was outstanding - Rafe Spall who plays Atticus Finch does a superb job and he has deservedly had rave reviews. We were pleased to see a boy from the year below Adam at school in his debut role in the West End as Jem. The production was interesting, the story followed the book but this production had a different timeline so that the events that happened did not follow the chronological order of the book, but it did not matter at all. Atticus Finch is often quoted by young lawyers as their reason for studying law - to me he is the epitome of goodness, a fair man who truly is unprejudiced against every type of person, good or bad. The book was written in 1960 and sadly it is a timeless tale, as there is still so much prejudice prevalent in the world today. If you don't know what I am talking about, read the book, it is one of those books you have to read in your lifetime! The show received a standing ovation from the audience. We were sitting behind David Walliams and his partner, he is a very tall man!
Today I was busy changing sheets and doing laundry, but Xena and I had a wonderful walk in the sunshine this morning. There are some beautiful cherry tree blossoms out at the moment, but by the time I could get to them for photos the light was flat, so I will leave it for another day. Instead I have these white blossoms which did look lovely in the morning sunshine.
It was rather warm today, and we are in for a warm weekend - think it will be 20C tomorrow. At last is all I can say!
I went and bought groceries as with the boys coming home I have some larger meals to cater for - Luke and Meriel are arriving tomorrow morning and Adam and Pip are arriving tomorrow evening as Adam is working in the lab tomorrow. I really miss the days when they were at school and were always home for the holidays, now they are all so busy we don't spend as much time on holiday together as we used to.
I am delighted that Tommy has secured a paid summer internship in his specialised field of engineering of machine learning/AI - it is amazing how AI is in so many aspects of our lives today. This morning there was an update on my Apple phone to amend facial recognition to allow for face masks - such clever engineering!
