Forget-Me-Nots.
At allotment today - walked Ginny first and then did some very late but much needed tidying up to get ready for planting. Seed potatoes got left in a plastic carrier bag and the First Earlys got going a bit too much - long straggly shoots and roots so they need to go in asap.
I can't resist foraging - not from other plots but there has been a very large Swiss Chard plant growing on one of the boundary banks - it has been providing me with meals all week. I'll give it a rest for the weekend but continue plundering its juicy white stems and glossy leaves after Easter. Made up my own recipe - steam chopped stalks to soften, add leaves to wilt, arrange in cast iron shallow dish, pour in cream (I use Elmlea) dot with nutty tasting Gruyere cheese and cook to perfection in medium oven. Serve with crusty French bread, jacket potato, garlic bread, French beans ....any of the above or top with thinly sliced potatoes parboiled first. Season well....enjoy.
No time for photography today but my neighbour's plot is a sea of forget-me-nots - that'll do!
