Oh Wise One

My stealthy approach seemed to be working, for the owl at least. I had been observing some turtles obscured by a tree when I saw the owl and decided to move closer. Out in the open I heard several plops and looking over saw that the log where I had seen them was now empty.

Every few steps I stopped to get another photo of the owl, but it was not bothered by me at all. In fact, as far as I could see, in the end he had closed his eyes.

In the distance I saw, perhaps 20 turtles on a small island where the goose was nesting. It was warm, nearly 70°F, with a storm forecast. I pondered whether owls might prey on turtles? Unlikely, I think.

Edit: I replaced the photo because I thought my original post too dull and had a yellow cast.
