Madrid day one

An early start - left hours of extra time for all the delays we'd been warned to expect at the airport. Of course, we sailed through and sat at the gate with about 15 hours to spare. But, better that than the alternative!

Arrived to torrential rain - always fun when you're in a new city, trying to navigate the transport system and find accommodation. But, we found our little apartment as well as little tapas bar on the same street and so dumped our bags and took refuge with a beer and a plate of yumminess until it cleared up. Then into the centre for a mooch along Gran Via, taking in a few interesting shops (see extra) and then more tapas. When in Spain...
