Athletico! Madrid day 2
One of the reasons for going to Madrid was for a big football game; Joe's 13th birthday present - Athletico Madrid vs Man City, Champions League quarter final, at the incredible Wanda stadium. He supports neither teams but when a friend of ours said he might be able to get us tickets, we didn't care. So, Joe bought himself an Athletico shirt and became a fan for the night. An incredible atmosphere apparently - even with a 0-0 score. He said it was officially the BEST game he's ever been to.
Meanwhile Ava and I mooched around the shops, explored the Cheuca area which had a fantastic vibe, and found a cute little restaurant where we had tapas (again). There was a TV screen showing the Athletico game which we watched out of the corner of our eye.
We had started the day with a 3 hour guided bike tour which was a great way to see the city, especially the hidden gems. The kids particularly enjoyed the stop for churros and dipping chocolate half-way round!
