Wound up in Wexford

Purple sprouting

W mentioned yesterday that there was a lot of purple sprouting on our plants.  When I looked out of the window of the studio this morning, I realised that it was in fact on the point of bolting - it's been pretty warm these last few days, I think that's the end of the season.

So I picked it all - including one floret that is just starting to flower.  This evening, W has made soup with half of it, plus sweet potato, ginger, coconut milk, and a little bit of leek that was in the fridge and "wanted eating".  It was a rather lurid green, but very tasty.

Having failed to find a taker for the wardrobes, we have sadly accepted that they have reached the end of their useful life - they came from W's aunt's home in Germany, and have been taken apart and rebuilt at least 4 times.  But we really don't need them in Ireland.  So with heavy hearts, we've started the process of taking them apart.

We managed the "single" - which is pretty large, but had to accept that we needed help with the double, so our neighbour's son will kindly come round tomorrow evening.  Once the component parts are downstairs and in the garden, W will get the electric saw out, and many of the pieces are too large to fit in the car as they are.
