Musings of a Mortal

Kindness

For those who don't know, my youngest is undertaking a wee stroll thru the country. Lands End to John O Groats to be precise.... and as he is walking a number of marked "Way Routes" the total number of miles he will walk will be in the region of 1400.

So far and approximately 200 miles in, things have gone relatively well... A couple of things have been "misplaced" and the rain early doors in the trip was certainly an issue.

However what has been a joy to hear is the kindness he has been shown by the folk he has met on the route.

From the runner who invited him back to his family home where he had a shower and a good feed to the guy in a canoe who helped him across a body of water when he missed a ferry connection to this "gem of a family".

On Easter Sunday he made a detour to a local church where he met this family. Afterwards they invited him back for a Roast Chicken dinner and I believe an Easter Egg hunt was included as well.

He never knew any of them before but friendships will have been formed as a result.

As his dad it's been an absolute delight to hear about the kindness shown and a great reminder for myself to show kindness not only to those whom I know but also to those who I don't know.

And if you happen to know these guys or even recognize yourself.... Then I simply say "Thank You!!"
