Feathering Out

The baby chicks are nearly a month old. Their feathers are filling in so they will be moved into the coop soon.
They are barred rock, straight-run chicks. Fingers crossed for more hens than roosters!
The heat lamps cast a red glow on them, but they are really black and white.
When I put the camera inside the bin, some of the chicks ran up and tried to peck at the lens. It was really hard to get any of them in focus.
Chickens are descended from dinosaurs. They look cute but they can be fierce.
One of the chicks is especially sweet, though. I think that one will be the pet chicken for our grandson.
