Day 5

What a day we have had.
We had a safari round the Alladale estate. Started off with the wildcats. These are pure wildcats and are being bred for release next year into the Cairngorms. They look like domestic wildcats only bigger (and more vicious)
We then went off road in the land rovers to follow rivers etc and at one point crossed them to visit the highland cattle. They were originally black but Queen Victoria did not like the colour and wanted them red so they were bred in different colours to please her! The rangers fed the which is why they were so close. We spotted 3 golden eagles which were really flying high. I didn’t get a shot but Alan did with his better lens.
On the lawn this morning Insaw a ring ouzel which is a mountain blackbird. Quite rare apparently as they are just coming back for summer. I also saw a red squirrel at the bird feeders.
We then went to Croick church which gave shelter to 400 crofters who had been thrown off their land by the Duke of Sutherland in favour of sheep which was more lucrative.
By now the rain had set in amd we headed back to the lodge for coffees d to get ready for dinner. I think we have all had a great day and spotted some wildlife. All suitably tired now
The final picture isa tree which is covered in raindrops which were glistening with raindrops. Bare branches no leaves no blossom. I just thought it looked beautiful but not sure I captured that beauty
