Logan Botanic Gardens
Port Logan, Dumfries & Galloway
A glorious day to visit these botanic gardens and enjoy the palms, eucalyptus, ferns and array of other plants I don't normally expect to see growing outdoors. It almost felt like we weren't in Scotland anymore. Interested by the Wollemi Pine, found in fossils and only rediscovered near Sydney (Australia) in 1994; with a speciman in the gardens here since 2006.
It was a fair drive, even while staying near Dumfries, so having come this far we ventured down to Scotland's most southerly point at the Mull of Galloway. The Isle of Man was clearly visible across the Irish Sea. Spotted a few gannets, cormorants, kittiwakes and stonechat while enjoying the views.
