Rum Cuillin from Ben Hiant

A stunning day to climb Ben Hiant, a gentle hill with views out to at least 7 islands and the highest hill in Ardnamurchan at just 528m, exceptional views on a fabulously clear day. I had the summit to myself and a golden eagle circled overhead.
After a picnic lunch half way down in a warm sheltered spot I headed for the lighthouse. Apparently it’s built in the Egyptian style (whatever that means) it’s pink granite tower looking magnificent in the sunshine.
A detour to Portuairk for otter spotting (zero) and then a leisurely drive back to Glenborrodale via Kilchoan and more fruitless otter watching. The Clyde  behind Sainsburys in Braehead might be a better bet, as one of my neighbours can testify.
A Charles Arrowby (The Sea The Sea) type supper – lentils, edamame beans, courgettes, Brie, an oatcake, half an apple and 2 chocolate krispies I found in my backpack.
Now waiting for the arrival of the pine marten. I love it that their collective noun is a gladness of marten.
