The man from the Pru

This is the Prudential Building in Holborn close to the boundary with the City of London. It was built in the late 19th century as the headquarters of the Prudential Assurance Society, hence my reference to 'the man from the Pru', which was an advertising slogan many years ago. The Pru left the building in 1999 but still own it. It is Grade 2 listed and very much a landmark of that part of London. The architect was Alfred Waterhouse who also designed the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, which is an even grander and spectacular example of Waterhouse's work.
