SANG

A SANG is a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace, not a designation I was aware of until we took my eldest daughter's dog there for a walk today. Kanji is staying with us for the weekend which means we have reinstated the strict separation regime  at home to keep him away from Rocky, our cat. The SANG is near Windlesham and running through it was a stretch of the new Southampton to London pipeline taking aviation fuel to Heathrow. Something else I wasn't aware of! Apparently it's replacing one that was laid in 1972. The route of the pipe is fenced off, although there are access points through it, and there are notices stating that ecological regeneration is taking place.
