Isle of Whithorn

One of the most southerly fishing ports/villages in Scotland, not really an island, but what a gorgeous day trip with most of the family.
The day started with a good 4 km walk around the grounds and golf course at Cally Palace. A nice morning, and improved as the day went on. We left in 2 cars, and drove down the Whithorn penninsular. Lovely rolling landscape, through fields and woods, down to the coast, a walk out to the tower, looking at the old St Ninians chapel, and watching the sailing boat and rowing boat having a super time in the brisk wind and lovely high tide. Then, a beer and Mr S loving his large fish and chips at the great Steam Packet Inn, sat outside watching all the action at the harbour.
We went to the wonderful Laurieston Gallery and coffee shop, in  a smaller group in the afternoon. Met a famous author there in fact, Alan Temperley. He is a famous story teller, and apparently the Tales of Galloway is really good, I'm trying to get hold of it.
The last night, lovely dinner, making new friends after in the lounge, chatting and playing games till the wee hours. Very glad to be able to remove the mask as the rules changed in Scotland at midnight.
