Supernatural Happenings
I won't bore you writing about work today. I survived and that was that.
The wind was howling round the house all day and I decided I wouldn't go out after I'd logged off but as the sun was trying to put in a late appearance so at 3:15, I shut everything down, wandered downstairs and decided to brave the great outdoors. Mom said she didn't fancy it today but told me to phone and let her know if I collapsed in a heap up the road and would be late for dinner.
Anyway, I nearly decided not to go out at all as with boots and coat on, purse in pocket and camera around my neck ready to go, I could not find my gloves anywhere. It's a shame I hadn't decided to be a pastry chef instead of stumbling into dratted IT. My hands are cold even on warm days so I had a major strop searching everywhere for them. I was retracing my yesterday steps in my head but I was adamant that I'd left my gloves on my bedside table. I checked the floor under the bed, emptied my bag, checked pockets, all the usual things but even with Mom's help, no joy. I stomped up the road eventually deciding I might as well get some more.
Have you ever tried to buy gloves when it's meant to be spring and halfway through April? I went to Debenhams, British Home Stores, Marks and Spencers and then over the bridge to TK Maxx. Can you believe it, I even scowled at the hopeful looking seagulls?! Poor things! I took a couple of pictures coming back over the bridge anyway. I'll make it up to the gulls later in the week..
Anyway, final stop was Hourstons, a posh department store on the way home. They had gloves! I got some lovely black leather ones for £22 instead of £40. I was slightly happier walking back home, almost managing to ignore that eye watering breeze.
I got back in the house and was just in time for dinner - cauliflower cheese, spuds and sausages - and then I went back downstairs to get changed. Now, I hope you are sitting down and not of a delicate disposition - my old gloves were in the middle of the hall on the carpet! What do you think of that??? My gast was totally flabbered!
