Sowing courgettes under cloches
After yesterday's cucurbit sowings, and with all the fast-grounding plants in there, greenhouse space is now at a premium.
As we're (hopefully) only a couple of weeks away from the last frost(s) now, and as the courgettes will be growing in a thick mulch of manure at the front of the plot (the sunniest location), I took the calculated risk to sow direct, under cloches.
I've sown 4 cultivars: green 'Defender', round green organic 'Ronde de Nice' (seeds bought in France), yellow 'Lemona', and whitish green 'Bianca di Trieste'.
Courgettes are definitely a low-maintenance crop: give their bed plenty of manure before the growing season and there's very little else to do until the glut in the summer!!
