Grizzled Skipper Butterfly
This afternoon I went on a Wildlife Trust Butterfly walk on Llanymynech Rocks. I know all the places for butterflies there but always enjoy going with an expert as they know so much as well as being brilliant at spotting them.
We saw eight different types of butterfly including this tiny Grizzled Skipper. Sadly two types of butterfly have died out there - Pearl Bordered Fritillary and Brown Argus. The best butterfly areas are badly overgrown with scrub so their food plants can't grow there any more which is thought to be the cause. Our expert blamed lack of money and resources also the Covid lockdowns when volunteering stopped for a long time.
