80th birthday party

At one point in Vikram’s, peripatetic, in and out, up and down childhood he spent time at an English public school where he acquired a mentor for life.  Yesterday that mentor’s 80th birthday was celebrated at the school where he spent his career.  I haven’t put his photo up but it was a moving and enjoyable lunch.  V here is about to present him with a maquette of a statue that a group put together the money to purchase. It is on the window sill shrouded by a piece of old silk velvet from my fabric box.

We got home around 6.30 and I changed into gardening clothes and pruned a hydrangea.
