Disaster!
JR’s Big Day, with a gym session, then Body Street, where she had her monthly body scan, where she discovered that the 2kg she put on during the cruise was actually muscle. Must have been all those steaks she kept eating! In the afternoon she took Archie a big walk through the Hermitage, at least 20,000 steps!.
I waited in all morning for the man to come and service the gas fire. He did not come. When I rang, his wife (or secretary) was apologetic but I didn’t want to stay in all afternoon as well. I made another date and asked that I be first.
I then went to the gym and managed the treadmill and the bike. I rode around the Champagne Region - well, twenty minutes of the region. All pretty flat, and probably much better in a limousine, which we’ll be doing next month. After that, I happened to check my bus, and yes, I had time to walk back to the bus stop. I’d had enough.
I have the Cranberries on LOUD when I’m at the gym - reminds me of when I could do more, much more, but when I walk home I put my earpods on ‘Songs - Shuffle’ and I get random songs I haven’t heard for ages, or even, actually not heard at all. Mind you, sometimes the odd ‘Nelly the Elephant’ song pops up, a remnant of my ‘music programme’ from my teaching career. Sometimes I’d download a whole album, but not listen to everything, so it’s fun to discover new stuff.
As I neared home, my left earbud fell out. Not for the first time. It was sort of in slow motion and as I watched it give a big bounce on the pavement I thought ‘I hope it doesn’t fall into that… ‘ DRAIN! Yes it did!! Noooo!!
I checked out cheaper ones, but then checked the Apple shop. I remember when you couldn’t buy just one ear bud before (my pal Janet lost one), but now they do sell single ones. Not cheap, but it’d be silly to waste the other bud and the wee case. I really can’t do without them, especially at the gym to drown out their godawful muzak.
