Living my dream

Little beauties

I harvested the New Zealand cranberries today. They look almost too beautiful to pick: I love the vibrant reds and greens.

New Zealand cranberries are not native to New Zealand. Nor are they cranberries. They are in fact Chilean guava (Myrtus ugni). Kiwis are very good at rebranding produce for commercial gain.

They taste of…um… sharp sweetness and something fragrant. I add them to muffins and they also make a delicious jam.

The buttock is improving and I was able to take Bean for a painless 3km flat walk today. Phew.
