Quiet Mourning
The yard is slowly wakening. Jonquils and daffodils are open. Hyacinths and tulips now budded. Even a few dandelions have revealed themselves amongst the green grass that lengthens by day. Before long these spring beauties will lure the bees from their sleepy hideaways. It’s been a long winter, surely they must be famished! • I thought I saw a fat robin perched in a tree when bringing out the trash, but the camera lens revealed something else - this sleepy mourning dove. So sweet he is on a swing framed by leaf buds • We’re keeping our N95 masks near as a friend has tested positive and is home feeling very sick. She’s in her early 40’s, is vaccinated and boosted, and has been living life normally for the past few months. She’s another example of how contagious this latest strain is, especially in the Northeast, and the reason we don’t want to let our guard down. MrsP and I feel very much like anomalies now… • Stay safe, be well, and keep joy in your heart!
