Peet’s Coffee

A lovely slow day. I did go running early in the morning. The steep slopes around here took their toll and I had to walk some of the last uphill sections then break into the estate as I’d not taken a key for the gate. The extra is a view from Chris’s estate

After breakfast we drove to Bressi Ranch to Peet’s Coffee, a favourite place of ours. Beautiful to sit amongst flowers in a pleasant shaded location.

Lunch was a sandwich made to order at Sprouts Supermarket. Good value and tasty. From there we drove to Carlsbad Outlet mall where I bought a pair of trainers.

The afternoon ended back in San Marcos walking the route I’d run this morning with Susan, around the Californian State University at San Marcos, North City (where Chris was living last time we were here) and around some of the prestigious gated communities that we entered as traffic exited!

We’re finding that generally the price of food in California is much more expensive than in the UK. Even produce that you might expect to be cheaper such as fruit and vegetables and bread. A large loaf is up to $5! (£1= $1.27). On the other hand there seems to be much more organic foodstuffs available and the price differential less than the UK.
