Ciao, ciao Holy Mamma!

Madonna dello Stellario, towers high above Piazza San Francesco atop a Corinthian column. Sculpted from marble by Giovanni Lanzoni in 1687, she showers grace and beauty to us mortals below and shares a prayer, inscribed in Latin below her feet, “You who are truly free, keep us free too.”
Today we prepare to leave Lucca. We took walks during the breaks in the rain, one of which was to have dinner at Ristorante Il Mecenate in Piazza San Francesco and bid “Arriverderci” to our Madonna with the star halo.
