A young mallard drake

The afternoon appointments failed to attend, so I got away home a little early and was able to enjoy a jog. The circuit went on has a long gradual downhill section at first, which is good introduction to running again.

A few weeks back I posted a photo of a collection of little yellow plastic duckies. Today, on the other side of the street, were 40 to 50 mallards. At least 20 on each of two neighbouring front lawns. I realised why, and have just checked to be certain. 

The annual duck shooting season commences on 07 May 2022. Ducks relocate to the cities in the week or two before the season opens each year. As they will survive the shooting season because of this action, it will be reinforced and handed on.
