Broken and rundown
Dereliction can sometimes look curiously attractive. But not here - this is one of the ugliest buildings I know, in an appalling condition. This is its better side, softened by newly leaved trees and a fluffy cloud sky. It occupies a prominent position in Runcorn town centre. At least something seems to be happening now. It’s all going to be demolished and (assuming a recently granted planning permission is implemented) replaced with a mix of apartments, town houses, a care facility and a hotel. I hope the design quality is a whole lot better than this.
I am here as I accompanied J to the hospital, her last day of the current round. It is en route to another destination.
