Supper
I know this looks a bit like what the cat threw up, but this is my homage to some of the best gourmet food known to man - The packet Vesta Chicken Supreme
My first introduction to soy sauce was through the Vesta Chow Mein when I was just a nipper, and cooking the crispy noodles was pure delight - 5 seconds too long and they were burned to a crisp. Even on the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Expedition, when the food ran out on the third day, the Vesta Paella came to the rescue; what a breakfast that was! Many times, later in life I've had Chicken Supreme in restaurants, and disappointingly they've got real chicken breasts in it instead of tasty soya and bluddy tomatoes!
For years now, I have been recreating the proper Vesta Chicken Supreme for a fraction of the price by using real chicken chopped up and fried, and then the master-stroke - tipping it in to a saucepan of condensed cream of chicken soup, watered down by a tin of non-condensed chicken soup. Added peas, and served with rice.
All our kids have been brought up on the stuff.
Bluddy Luvverly!
